The 2015-16 school year begins!

Preparation for the 2015-16 school year is well underway. Our 16 schools have selected their distribution dates and our corps of 66 dedicated volunteers are ready to visit the individual classrooms and get the children excited about reading! The principal at Nanaikapono Elementary School said, “The RIF Program volunteers convey their love of reading every time they come to the school, and our students embrace their enthusiasm.”
Although our primary focus is kindergarten through third grade, we have expanded our program to include preschool classes established by the Department of Education at 3 of our schools: Nanakuli, Linapuni and Waiahole.
Mahalo to our volunteers and supporters for helping us show children that reading is fun as well as fundamental! As one student wrote last year, “RIF, RIF, you’re the best. You’re the best to east to west.”
